The Gardeners Magazine of Botany 1850
|
'From the first three volumes of the first edition
of the Gardener's Magazine of Botany. It is very similar in composition to
Paxton's Flower Garden. It was started in 1850, edited by Thomas Moore, Curator
of the Botanic Garden of Chelsea & William P. Ayres & published by William Orr
in London. The publication was of short duration, but the first issues contain
prints of a singular beauty and grace. The plates are good sized measuring
approximately 7 inches by 10 inches, on thick creamy paper with no foxing.
Prints are accompanied by the relevant descriptive text. These prints are over
150 years old & in superb condition.' |
