Michel Estienne Descourtilz (1775 – 1835) was one of the most important experts of the West Indies flora. He worked as a doctor and a high school manager for the Government of SANTO DOMINGO. The plates are by the author’s son J. THEODORE DESCOURTILZ who became a very famous ornithological artist when he published 'Oiseaux brillans du Bresil in Paris in 1834'. from Grands-Papiers |
