| Bulbs CAUTION!
This bulb could cause eye
damage, as it seems to give out a lot of ultra-violet. NEVER
water or mist near it as it could explode!! It's a 500 watt Mercury Blend Lamp balanced for vegetative growth nort flowering
& was installed in my kitchen in October 2001. It's put on from about 8.00
a.m. & off at about 7.00 p.m. or later. I tend to switch it off if I am in the room.
An oscillating fan is left on 24 hours a day. It gives out a lot of heat as well
as light, heating my kitchen to 25°
C or more even in winter. Even P. reflexiflora is producing sturdy new growth & P.
x belotii, P. 'Betsie Greijmans', P. bicornis, P. cinnabarina, P.
colinvauxii,
P. x
colvilli, P. organensis & P. suberosa continue to flower. Some Passiflora are very
tough so put them closest to the light. P. suberosa has grown
right over the top of the reflector. I am very pleased with this light &
would recommend it but watch out for pests & expect the plants to look
straggly & flowering to reduce as winter progresses. Tacsonia & others
that are more comfortable in lower light levels do better kept away from
it. It is also too much for most seedlings. |
