Registration of Passiflora cultivars - hybrids or species selections. New cultivar If you have created a new cultivar in the genus Passiflora, then you can register it here. A cultivar will usually be a hybrid or, less commonly, a selected form of a species. Registration This is a simple process. Your first step is to read the Registration Notes PDF. You will then need to ask yourself certain questions and satisfy a few criteria as listed below: 1. Is your plant worth registering? 2. Do you have a suitable name? First check that the name you have chosen has not already been used. 3. You must supply a suitable image of the flower and a detailed description. As a guide to the information required, see the descriptions of species and cultivars in either John Vanderplank’s book (Passion Flowers, 1996) or the book by Bettina and Torsten Ulmer (Passionsblumen: Eine faszinierende Gattung, 1997). It is essential that, in addition to photographs, this level of detail is included with the registration so that others can easily identify new cultivars. 4. To apply please download the Passiflora Cultivar Registration Form (Word). Simply fill the form in, then save it using your proposed name, for example as passiflora-excel.doc and
it to me, preferably with digital images attached. If you wish to print out and post the form please contact me for the address. More Annual lists of previously registered Passiflora cultivars from 2004 to date can be downloaded here. Publications dealing with Passiflora cultivars are listed in the Registration Notes PDF above. If you need further information, contact the Registrar.
