Passiflora justinianoi Kuethe

Decaloba
Bolivia 2025
Min –5°C 23°F

First published in Phytotaxa 691: 181 (2025) by Kuethe et al, Passiflora justinianoi is found almost exclusively in the Department of Cochabamba, Bolivia, growing in the montane Andean cloud forests as a delicate trailing vine along the western edges of Carrasco Natural Park in the Tucumano-Boliviano ecoregion. This species is dedicated to Hermes Justiniano, Bolivian botanist and founder of the Fundación para la Conservación del Bosque Seco Chiquitano (FCBC), who contributed profoundly to the studies of the Bolivian Passiflora through his comprehensive fieldguide and other publications. Many thanks to Tim Stapleton for the pics, we believe it is the first time it has flowered under cultivation.
