The specific name honours Mr. James Colvill, owner of a nursery on King’s Road, Chelsea, London, England( fide K. The cross has been repeated many times with quite variable offspring. Note that is has been renamed By Kew Gardens as P. x colvillei, which I do not believe to be correct.
